Reading After Hours

$20,000 — This innovative idea from local nonprofit Alkebulan Community Reform seeks to form an afterschool program for underprivileged children. The program is designed to enable at-risk youth additional time and resources to learn science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (“STEM”) while also focusing on reading comprehension. Although the project will focus on academic development, we intend to incorporate a life skills component to develop good behavior, respect for themselves and others, and training to enhance their daily quality of life.

AtKC Learning Lab

$15,000 — All the King’s Children Learning Lab will consist of educational and hands-on programs that provide Mount Olive children with the skills needed and the opportunity to become independent, productive members of their community. Beyond the Game

$15,000 — This year the Mount Olive Hurricanes has come under the leadership of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Children participating in this program will be put under the influence of Christian men who will act as mentors/coaches that seek to coach them “beyond the game”. Throughout the season these men will schedule parts of practice to teach these participants lessons on character and integrity from a biblical perspective.
